'The restaurant industry cannot take responsibility for societal problems' Quote from RASA on Radio this morning in relation to possible alcohol restrictions due to COVID rise.
I am not sure what to think of this stance.
Is alcohol the cause of the 'societal problem' or the behavior of people who overindulge? Should restaurants, bars, taverns take some culpability to societal problems involving alcohol.
It could be argued that the restaurant industry has a vested interest (make money out of increased alcohol sales) and encourage people to overindulge?
Should RASA be taking a more responsible stance rather then to deny any accountability?
Anyway, I would love your thoughts so I can form an opinion.
